Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT (often known as Tapping or EFT Tapping), is a universal therapy tool that can help physical, emotional, and performance issues. EFT operates on the premise that unresolved emotional issues impact on health and wellbeing. It is well accepted that any kind of emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body.
My position on EFT, is that, like other complimentary therapies, it has a place amongst traditional medicine but it is a individual choice if to utilise it on not. I do not consider it to be a therapy that will suit everyone. I have completed 3 formal levels of training that allow me to be competent in utilising the skills. I do not claim to be a fully qualified EFT practitioner, as recognised by bodies that govern the training of EFT,. However I am competent in using the therapy if a client requests it.
EFT is related to acupuncture but does not use needles. Instead, a simple two pronged process is used. Firstly the client mentally tunes into specific issues while stimulating certain "meridian" points on the body by tapping on them with fingertips. Properly done, EFT appears to balance disturbances in the meridian system and can create changes towards health and wellbeing that are lasting and effective. This therapy is not magical but is based on optimising the bodies own natural health mechanisms. Research into accupuncture can be found at https://www.acupuncture.org.uk/
